FIFA, angry at Chef Salt Bae for his 'inappropriate arrival' for the festivities after the Qatar 2022 final
FIFA is investigating how famous Turkish chef Salt Pie gained "improper access" to Argentina's stadium celebrations after winning the World Cup in Qatar and will take "appropriate internal measures".
'Salt Bae', whose real name is Nusret Gokce and who owns a chain of high-end restaurants, posted several photos and videos of himself with the World Cup on his social media after Sunday's match. His presence at the celebrations was widely criticized and prompted an investigation by FIFA.
"Following a review, FIFA has been limiting how people may inappropriately access the pitch after the closing ceremony at Lusail Stadium on December 18," it said in a statement.
In a video that went viral, it was seen how Argentina's captain and star player, Leo Messi, had to brush off Gucci's insistent attempts to get him to take notice.
A FIFA spokesperson said in a statement to BBC Sport: "Following the review, FIFA was to determine how individuals gained improper access to the pitch after the closing ceremony at Lusail Stadium on 18 December."
Who is Salt Bae and why is he so famous?
Salt Bae is the owner of a chain of high-end steakhouses. He rose to fame in 2017 after his method of preparing and seasoning meat became an internet meme.
It has more than 20 restaurants in the world in some of the most cosmopolitan cities, such as Dubai, Doha, London, Miami and New York.
One of its most famous preparations is the gold-encrusted T-bone steak, which costs more than $2,000.
Many soccer stars such as Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and David Beckham have dined at Salt Bae restaurants.
In November, during the World Cup, the chef released a video embracing FIFA President Gianni Infantino, with whom he was later photographed in a VIP box along with Brazilian legends like Ronaldo, Roberto Carlos and Cafu.
During Argentina's celebration, Messi seemed to ignore Salt Bae and his frantic scenes with which he tried to get his attention.
The cook took several pictures with players such as Lisandro Martinez, Angel Di Maria and Messi himself.
Although the things that caused the most discontent were those seen with the cup, which raised many questions among users and journalists on social networks.
